Safari asks for keychain

I have noticed that safari asks for the keychain frequently especially when entering a password on for a Email service.
what happens is I start entering a password and after the first 2 characters the prompt for access to the keychain appears. then I cancle and continue entering the password and again after 2 characters the prompt appears again.
Their is no reason Safari should be asking for the keycahin. can anyone suggest what is ocuring?

Safari will ask for the keychain password when your keychain is locked. If you unlock your keychain, those requests should stop.
There also could be some problem associated with your keychain file. You should try running a keychain repair, from the Keychain Access utility. (Keychain First Aid is in the Keychain Access menu)

I have unlocked the keychain and left it on the dock and the password for keychain access will appear. I believe an application is trying to use the keychain. I have run keychain repair, no fault found and the condition still occurs.

Well, you are exactly correct. Your first post shows that Safari is asking for the keychain to access AOL mail.
Typically, if the password is not stored in the app, the app will ask for access to the keychain.
If you need to use the password, then you need to allow that use.

The issue though is I never saved any information in Safari and it gos further even if I have Safari closed the key chain it pop u a prompt "keychain access wants to use the login" and I have to hit cancel 7 times for the window to close.

Well, yes.
You can save some site's logins in Safari, some others will not save in Safari, but will save in the keychain.

I thought from your first post that your question was only about Safari - so, then I suppose that you have other issues with the keychain.
There may still be an issue with your login keychain, so you could try deleting your login keychain. Your system will create a new login keychain when it needs it. You can find your login keychain in your user folder ~/Library/Keychains.
Drag the login.keychain to the trash, then restart your Mac. Your Mac will create a new, clean login.keychain then.
