It seems everyday I get angry at Safari at least once. Is there a way to turn off the auto-fill/complete of the Address Bar. It seems if I go to type in say "www.imdb.com" it will complete itself with "www.imdb.com/name/...." or whatever is the first in the history list. I'm looking for a way to turn this off. It would be much appreciated.

have you checked in the preferences of safari, i know there is a way to turn it off (entire autofill that is) just i am not on my powerbook right now (stupid thinkpad)

But.
Safari auto-completes based on both the history and the bookmarks. There is no way that I know of to disable the use of bookmarks in auto-completion, short of deleting all bookmarks. There is, however, a way to stop it from using the history. Which has, of course, already been discussed in this forum a number of times. Here's the link.

Alright thanks. Going to try some of these methods now. Eva01, the auto-fill preferences in Safari seem to only be for forms mainly. I didn't see an option for the address bar. Anyways, I've got a few methods to try out now.

That's really annoying! Just because I have something bookmarked, doesn't mean I necessarily want it popping up on my address bar all the time! There are some sites which I like and visit regularly, but which, due to my own or my friends' hangups, I don't want them finding out about if they hop on my ibook to check their mail.
I wish there was a way to create a secret, private bookmark file that would require a password and would not display in the address bar. I know I can lock my admin user account and only let others use a secondary child protected account to sign in and use the machine, but that gets tedious, especially when the whole point of privately surfing is PRIVACY!
Otherwise, it would be nice if the list of autofill sites for the address bar were separate from the bookmark list and could be edited.
