I wonder why Apple is not able to make normally working browser ? I have latest Catalina, latest Safari and it starts being so slow, pages take ages to open. While internet is extremely fast here and when I switch to for example Chrome, the page that takes 30 sec for Safari to open, opens in 1 sec in Chrome ...

I used Safari exclusively on Catalina and Big Sur with a mid-2014 13" Pro. Not problems with speed for me.

Did you do a clean install of Catalina or an upgrade?

I now did the latest update of Safari and Catalina and now seems back to normal ? I don't know - shall I go for Big Sur (would it be any real upgrade) or rather be happy that it somehow works ?

If you are happy with Catalina, there is no great urgency to update.

My MacBook was having problems with booting. I thought the updated bootrom in Big Sur would fix it but it didn't. Turned out to be a hardware problem.
