I've have always had a problem rearranging my bookmarks on my iPhone 4s, and now also on the new iPad. I know how to click on edit and rearrange them but once safari is closed if I ever double-click home and close it in the taskbar or turn my Iphone/iPad off and back on then the bookmarks go back to the original order (which is the newest at the bottom)

Does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? Thanks

Can anyone confirm if they have a similar problem or does yours rearrange and stay that way? Am I missing a setting?

Suggestion:

Instead of saving bookmarks to the "Bookmarks", save them to your desktop as icons. Them combine them into folders, sorted any way you want. A much simpler way to handle them. Granted, you have to go out of Safari to launch one, but keeping tabs open for those you use most minimizes that issue.

I have exactly the same issue on my iPhone. It only started occurring today having created a new folder.

Previously, all bookmarks and folders (approx. 7/8) maintained their position, but having created this new folder they rearrange themselves whenever I reopen Safari.

Bookmarks not saving in the order I selected was a problem for me as well when I had my iPad 2. Now I just have my iPhone 4 and it's not a problem. It was strange and annoying! I did get it to work sometimes though.

I'd export my Mac Safari bookmarks to the desktop, delete all my bookmarks in Safari, wait for them to disappear on iOS, import them back into Mac Safari from the file on the desktop, and wait for them to re-appear on iOS.

If you don't sync them to your computer now it might be worth it to just do it temporarily for this. Whenever I've had problems like this with Apple's syncing services (calendar, address book, bookmarks) a clean out seems to fix it.
