Safari can't open the page. The error is: "The operation couldn't be completed. No space left on device" (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:28).

I deliberately purchased a 32GB RAM M2 Macbook Pro with 1TB space to avoid this.

I have tried the basics that people suggested, such as Safari --> Privacy --> and ensuring hide from known trackers is unchecked.

But the issue persists.

If I restart, that resolves it for a few days, then the issue returns.

Activity monitor shows I am not eating into SWAP or using all RAM, over 5GB free RAM, often more than 10GB free.

I have over 930GBs free on storage.

No explanation for this issue.

I had this issue in the past with a 16GB MBA M1, so I assumed it was due to eating a large amount of SWAP, but the issue is affecting even a 32GB RAM Mac with unused memory (no excessive swap being used).

TSing completed:
1. Updated to the latest Mac OS version (from 13.1 that it shipped with to 13.2.1).
2. Reinstalled Mac OS and erased all
3. Setup as new and did NOT use migration assistant or anything of the sort.
4. Tested Chrome as a workaround, and while it works without the issue, it drains my battery life roughly twice as fast as Safari with fewer windows (even one window drains me 17% in just 1 1/2 hrs).

If anyone has suggestions please pass them my way, thank you.

It’s important to note that not everyone can reliably replicate this error, and simply opening many browser tabs or windows does not cause the issue to appear. The portion of the error message stating “No space left on device” is not in fact true in the context of general disk drive capacity on the affected Mac, as there are no disk space issues, nor apparent swap/vm limitations, that are occurring.

Have you tried to delete Safari cache and cockies ?

It is also likely to be an external Firewall blocking:

EDIT:

Seems like i found the culprit. Alot talked about Little Snitch, a tool im not using. However i did had RadioSilence installed, A tool similar (thou less features) as LittleSnitch. Removing RadioSilence also fixed the issue, as i have not encountered it for the last 2 days.

Thanks all for your comments and feedback. im happy i had this sorted.

I don't have LittleSnitch or RadioSilence installed. No firewalls.

I have cleared cookies and cache before.

No extensions on safari either.

Oddly enough my iOS devices don't get this error. Seems to be a bug. Shame it hasn't been addressed in years.

Just an update, ended up returning the 14" M2 Max model w/ 32GB RAM for the 16" M2 Pro model with 16GB as obviously the RAM usage wasn't the cause of the error.

Instead I've been using Chrome more, the larger 16" has superior battery life. Even with Chrome being used the battery life is better than the 14" with Safari.

My MacBook Pro M1 Max (2021) with 32GB & 1TB storage also runs into the same issue (with Safari). I found no solution yet.
