Safari checkered pattern

This is more of a "does everyone's do this" post. So when I bring up a page and then want to quickly scroll down, safari shows a checkered pattern and then shows what I scrolled down to. Is this normal?

yes its normal, that's how safari renders the page

Seeing as its in the keynote presentation, the trading videos and commercials, and happens to me, I have to say its normal.

I think its a video buffer thing. It seems to be somewhat smart and pre-load areas to may scroll to next but if you scroll fast and far it has to catch up.
