I have a 2017 iMac and I always used safari until I got SiriusXM , when I started listening to it in a pinned tab and doing my work safari always spun up. I downloaded chrome and no problems what so ever . Even on Catalina .. I am curious about how Firefox would work , better ? Worse ?

Chrome is a resource hog.

Worse that happens is you try Firefox and have the same experience. Might as well give it a whirl.

I use Firefox as my main browser and have for a long time - works great for me. Works fine on Catalina too.

I also use “Firefox Sync” to keep iOS and Mac versions synchronized (bookmarks and passwords) - works great on iPad Pro and iPhone

I use Google Chrome, and really am pleased with the speed. But being a resource hog is bothersome. Firefox has definitely improved in speed, and I do use it occasionally (and it is my default browser when I click a link in an app, usually in Thunderbird). Those 3 apps, by the way, worked fine with Catalina (as did some others).

I've been using Safari for a long time and it's the browser I prefer. But currently I'm considering switching to Chrome because I learned that Safari is using avc codec for Youtube while Chrome uses the vp9 codec which supposed to be using much lesser data compared to Safari's codec (Although I haven't verified this yet). Thins I like about Safari is it's password managing method with the iCloud Keychain so that I can use the same passwords on my iPhone's browser as well as in some of the apps too!
