when the safari is in use like I am browsing the web, it closes automatically. The black screen comes out for couple seconds first and then it goes to the home screen. It happens randomly, sometimes once every hour and sometimes several times in an hours. My 3g iPhone is in the latest firmware and never jailbroken. Any idea on how to solve this problem?

It means that Safari is crashing. Most often it's caused by either having many pages open or by loading a website that is very intense on the small amount of memory the iPod has.

It happens to my iPhone 3G frequently, I didn't experienced it with my 1st gen iPhone.
Also I hate that when I switch to another previously loaded website (other safari page) it has to reload it, it's really slow and ala windows mobile... What is going on :apple: ?

Everyone gets this from time to time I think.

Try this: Settings -> Clear Cache, and restart the phone
I was getting this constantly today. While I did not empty the Cache, I did restart and the problem stopped (though, I admit I didn't test it intensively).
