At some point Safari got broken on my Mac Pro 5,1. Tried everything I could think of to fix it, so now I'm trying to reinstall Mojave or first try to apply the combo updater. Neither works. The combo updater says the volume where Mojave is currently installed "does not meet the requirements for this update", and reinstalling Mojave from recovery telles me "Your Mac needs a firmware update in order to install to this volume." Neither is true, obviously.

So I'm wondering if this is an Open Core related thing. I read about UpdateSMBIOSMode or CustomSMBIOSGuid being set wrong in the configuration, but I thought I should really find out what's going on before poking around changing random flags.

Can someone offer guidance? I'm running OC 0.6.1 on a cMP 4,1>5,1 with an RX580, currently on 10.14.6 and firmware 144.0.0.0.0

Thanks

Are you spoofing an iMac with your OC configuration?

Not that I know of. I use OC just for hardware acceleration in the Mac Pro.

From what I can remember I used Martin somebody’s preconfigured version.

OK. If you are doing hardware acceleration you are spoofing an iMac (you can read about it in the OpenCore thread). Someone with more knowledge will have to help but my understanding the installer is trying to do a firmware update because it thinks your machine is an iMac.
