This is as simple as I can put it:

Safari crashes every time on startup. The "Safari quit unexpectedly" notification pops up every time I attempt to open the app.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Find and delete any extensions
Reinstall Safari
Reinstall Yosemite

They are the only actions I can think of based on the description

hey guys... this has been a crazy night

first safari crashes on startup....

then time machine wasn't working with my backup....

but I finally got Safari to work by restoring time machine on just the SSD (OS & Apps thank God) by doing a full restore from booting into Time Machine

hope you get it all figured out guys..

How do I re-install Safari? Where do I download the latest version compatible with 10.10.2?

Tia

Currently there is no standalone installer for safari that is compatible with os x 10.10.2.

Currently the only way to get that (safari 8.0.3) is through installing a os x 10.10.2 beta.

So if you need to reinstall the safari 8.0.3 beta, you should reinstall the os x 10.10.2 beta.

Instructions on how to get the os x 10.10.2 combo beta for build 14C81f is in apple's developer forums.
