Safari crashing on iPad 1

Just about anytime I try to watch a video on safari the browser will crash halfway through. I'm using a first generation iPad with ios5. Any suggestions to fix it?

It's been doing it ever since the first beta of iOS 5 turned up. I've sent countless bug reports but the problem remains. Personally I've become accustomed to it...I've not come across a solution I'm afraid.
