Anyone else have this issue? On my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, trying to make a post with vbulletin usually crashes safari. I can usually get a shorter post like this one through, but larger ones almost always crash, and force me to retype everything

My work around is to write out my message in notes and then paste it, but that's far from ideal

I haven't experienced that problem. As an aside, have you tried the tapatalk app, I find it so much easier when replying or posting on v bulletin.

I've been having my first Safari crashes ever after getting iOS5...both iPad2 & 4S.

Haven't been able to attach it to anything, but may be VB & IP.B forums software?

I don't have tapatalk, though a few forums I visit have free apps based on tapatalk. It was nice before the 4 with the low res displays, but now I prefer to just browse the full pages. I'd rather not pay for an app that I don't care for just because apple introduced a bug.

iOS 5.0.1 did nothing to resolve the crashes posting in some vBulletin forums software.

Are you crashing at MacRumors or at other sites?

If you are always doing well at MacRumors but crashing at other sites, then it might have to do with the scripts that companies like Internet Brands will run.

I've noticed in the past that MacRumors seems pretty well thought out when compared to vBulletin forums owned by companies trying to make the big money.

At one of my jobs, we will only go to big-time sites through a government proxy that disables all scripts, and I have never had an issue when using no scripts.

Iirc it happens on all sites, though I don't post on macrumors that much. Sites that used to work perfectly fine on ios4 crash my 4S at 5.0.x within minutes.

I know this is a bump, but the issue is just as relevant. Ran into this like 10 times just now, so I remembered this thread

Maybe it's something about my install since I don't see others complaining. Weird though since I didn't restore from a backup... And I think my iPad does it too ( but I rarely use that, so I don't remember)

Can you list examples on sites where you experience on this? It could be editor centralised e.g CKEditor.

Between Safari crashing and loading old pages from the cache I'm not at all happy with Apple and IOS5. Can't believe they haven't fixed this yet

I had that issue, and as I was typing it would slow right down and not even type in everything I was typing. So I downloaded tapatalk. Seems to work, though it doesn't fix the issue with safari on iOS for this forum.

When iOS 5 first came out I thought it was the greatest thing since slice bread but now iOS 5 is nothing but rubbish. Not only does Safari sometimes crash but apps that use to never crash are now crashing like the Amazon and eBay apps heck even the Settings app crashes when trying to view my Safari data. I know it has to do with low memory and that iOS 5 is a pig when it comes to memory because the screen will go black for about a second and then the app will crash. Normally if a app crashes because it is buggy it just closes right away no black screen for a second first. This is because I have a iPod Touch 3rd and 4th Gen which only comes with 256 MB of RAM. iDevices with 512 MB of RAM will experience much fewer crashes.

I have noticed that Safari and a few third-party apps crash occasionally since I installed iOS 5. I have noticed more app crashing on my iPad 1 than on my iPhone 4, but both experience crashes now and did not before iOS 5. I am not sure if its always a memory leak - although occasionally that does seem to be the case. Apple should be getting diagnostics on these crashes, if you allow crash reports to be automatically sent to them.

To check the diagnostics yourself, go into settings, select General, select About, go down to Diagnostics. Some of the *soft* crashes oddly are not listed, but there may be more than you expected.

I'm beginning to agree.

Safari still regularly crashes in iPhone 4S & iPad 2, and iP4 does wayyyy too many full page reloads.

Apple needs to figure this out & fix it a.s.a.p.

Just figure I would throw it out there that I have the same issue. As much as I didn't want to, I downloaded the app the forum supported. While not a fix it works for now.

Safari crashes on the iPhone 4S so even devices with 512 MB of RAM crash. I guess iOS 5 is really a pig when it comes to memory and it must have a massive memory leak. Lets hope it is fixed in iOS 5.1.

I've found that crashes increase dramatically when I try to zoom text to fit the screen (ie. double tap the text) before the page is finished loading, especially when there is embedded video on the page. Patience ftw.

I have sent apple several feedback mails about safari crashing. It seems to me to be when you start inputting text while the downloading circle thing is still going. It does it on several forums, or text input bits on the web. It is really starting to p@ss me off. It was like this from the get go on 5.0, and it is NOT getting better. It is all very well saying get. Forum app, but that does not solve the issue, merely bypassing it. I shouldn't have to buy an app because safari is getting almost unbearable at times.

I am also experiencing crashes when opening some web pages. I am getting tired of having to open up safari again, and start again. Get it fixed apple, or I shan't be getting anything else with an apple on it. This is the first time I have gotten angry at apple.

I can't imagine how I'm escaping Scot free with this. I do a lot of posting and I haven't seen it the first time, yet.

Safari crashes constantly on my Ipad1.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, restore... but I buy Apple products so I don't have to do that.
