Is there any way to disable the favorites and Frequently Visted pages menu that comes up after opening a new tab and clicking in the URL field?

I have that set to Empty Page already.

And it's not when the tab opens, but when I click in the address field, a kind of drop-down menu appears showing favorites bar bookmarks and frequently visited pages.

This is how you disable it:
Go to: Safari / Preferences / Search / Uncheck: 'Show Favorites'
