Safari freezes while closing tab

This happens every once in a while. When trying to close a tab, Safari will freeze for several seconds before the tab closes. When this starts, it doesn't matter how many tabs I have. Even if I shut it down (cmd q) and restart it, it still happens. Once it starts happening, it doesn't go away for a very long time.

Any one knows what's happening?
