Safari Gets Stuck on Back Swipe Transition

I have a recurring problem on my M1 Pro. Safari constantly gets stuck halfway through the back swipe transition when I use my trackpad and neglect to swipe far enough. The transition stops like halfway through, and then Safari becomes very slow or impossible to navigate, and I have to restart it.

Does anyone else experience this, and is there any way to fix this?
