So here’s a weird, really specific auto-text glitch that I’m wondering if others can replicate:
If I type a word with an apostrophe at the beginning of a line with a blank line before it, in a Disqus box in Safari (10.15), the cursor moves back one line after I hit the spacebar and the OS replaces the dumb apostrophe with a smart one. So the cursor ends up in the marked spot instead of the end of the line if I type this:
If the apostrophe’d word is not at the start of the line, normal. If the line above the apostrophe’d word has text on it, normal. So for example, typing it without the extra line gives this:
Or this:
And it’s only in Disqus, and only on desktop Safari. Here on MacRumors, or in a text editor, also fine.
Is this happening for others? It’s not a big deal, it’s just so specific it’s weirding me out.
