Safari Hates Me

Ok, i didnt sync my bookmarks or anything like i said i was gonna. Anyways, my powerbook got slow as hell and i fired up terminal and "top" to see what was going on. SAFARI IS USING 288MB RAM and VSIZE IS 885 MB! does that seem strange to anyone? I've repaired permisions from the install CD, after upgrading to v74. It just started this with v73, so the upgrade isnt the culprit. I also verified the disk off the install CD and it said it needed repaired. So i did that, verified it again and it still said it needed repaired. Any ideas? thanks for any help


PS, now its up to 335 ram and 1.53G vsize?? it just keeps growing!

another update, i fired up IE and it uses 15 ram and 92vsize, that seems right.
also when the powermac runs safari it gets 36 and 148vsize. More than i thought it would but far from the powerbook.

fresh restart, nothing but finder open its using 473+RSIZE and 1.88G VSIZE! This is nuts

Network apps use a hell of alot of ram, it sucks but reboot or something see if it re-occurs

i've rebooted like a dozen times, Safari flat leaves my computer unusable. but with IE its fine. it seems odd that i would have 2 gigs from an internet browser in virtual memory. I click safari's window and i get the lolipop for a good minute before it even reacts and the word safari appears in toolbar menu.

i don't have your problem exactly but here is my Safari situation:

starts off as being nothing then with time it grows in memory footprint then it gets humongous then it crashes. although, today, with the new update, it crashed after an hour, though that was the only crash of the day and i was not watching it's memory use.

Sounds like a bug report to me. Time to push the little button in the upper right hand corner (if you can get to it).

if its not working for you... give it up and use something better.

It's so strange that people have such varying experiences with Safari. I've only seen 2 crashes since beta 2 was released on any of the machines I use/set up.

In case you haven't, try the "Reset Safari" command in the Safari menu, and try trashing your plist.
