In Safari 1.0, is there a way to configure a helper application based on the MIME type?

We have a CGI program and it set the MIME type in the HTTP header for each document it serves. Safari is saving the file with .cgi extension since it does not know how to handle the specific MIME types.

I could not find anywhere in the Preferences Panel about configuring MIME types in Safari.
