Safari in Yosemite appears faster and more responsive

I am not trying to be sardonic with the thread. I know the old, old joke. ;)

In using Yosemite, I have noticed that Safari is a lot more responsive and faster than the current version available in Mavericks. Pages are loading very fast without hanging up as they tend to do in Mavericks.

I realize this is only DP 1. However, I am encouraged with what I am seeing with Safari thus far.

Anyone else notice this?

I'm not using Yosemite, but I absolutely hate how swiping back to a previous page in Safari hangs while it reloads new page content. I just want it to go back to the original page without reloading content. Example, open page...click on a link to go somewhere else...decide to swipe back to original page...page now has new content so Safari reloads page and often goes to the top (not where you originally left it)

Is this fixed in Yosemite?

Not for me!

It's quite the opposite actually with Safari hanging regularly and struggling to find web pages nearly every time. For example I know when I hit 'submit reply' after I type this that I'll see a spinning and colourful ball.

I will say this though - when I first installed Yosemite I would have agreed with you - Safari was fine at first. I guess the bugs have kicked in, and will be fixed in DP2.

It's not entirely unusable. Not quite.

As to your question, the reloading issue is present in DP1.

I am surprised that there aren't more favorable responses.

Is it slow no matter how many tabs are open?

Scrolling, page loading and rendering has been very smooth for me.

I can see a little jaggedness if I scroll fast.

I never had Mavericks Safari crash. I'm getting random crashes, and YouTube/Facebook freeze up a lot, but in general, it's pretty quick still.

Dunno yet, I haven't gotten Safari in 10.10 to load a single page yet without crashing first.

Can confirm over here , Safari is more responsive and faster than it was on mavericks ! Late 2011'' MBP i7

both Safari and Stable chrome is super broken in DP1 for me, Firefox runs like nothing was new, super solid.

Sorry for my ignorance but what does DP1 mean?

I can say that Safari hangs on Mavericks no doubt. They mentioned that Safari in Yosemite would be a lot faster so it's not surprising that it's more snappy.

Relative to Chrome, the Safari on Mavericks was slow.

It works fine for me, with the caveat that if I type into the address bar immediately after a new tab it lags, then deletes what I just type. When opening a new tab, I have to let it sit for about a second before I begin typing, or Ill just have the second half of my search actually entered into google.

Odd but most certainly going to be fixed.

I've noticed this as well and I keep raging about it on twitter but nobody cares. lol. They all keep talking about Chrome this and Chrome that. Chrome sucks in Yosemite. Safari is the same speed IF not faster than chrome but significantly more intuitive which allows me to surf the web faster. And for me speed is number one followed by everything else.

So I definitely understand what you're talking about and Safari in the DP2 is quite stable. I had to uninstall divx for it to stop crashing and once i did that, all is good. More or less. ;)

I can't wait for the betas to come and so I can watch them optimize Safari even more because it's looking fantastic so far!
