Safari is driving me nuts

I have two problems with Safari. The first is that whenever I'm typing into a textarea on any webpage Safari makes this squeaking sound over the speakers, not loud but it's noticeable and annoying sometimes. The second is that sometimes the cursor will change to a hand, even though there is no link. I realize the second can simply be done through CSS, but this happens on pages like Slashdot as well as Macrumors. Anyone else having these problems?

Does this happen if you're logged in as another user?

Sorry I wouldn't know. There is only one user account on my Mac.

Make another account in System Preferences -> Accounts.
