Lately, almost every website I've visited has given me a prompt insisting I sign up for a newsletter. I get enough junk email as is and don't need any more "straight to trash" messages, especially since they tend to bury actual messages I need to read.

The prompts also tend to be disruptive, sometimes coming up when I'm scrolling through a website, focused on what it has to say.

We all know browsers do a good job today of blocking actual pop-up ads, which are pretty much a thing of the past. Unfortunately, these sign up prompts seem to be the new pop ups, and I am looking for anything that will block them at this point.

I'm OK with using Firefox or any Mozilla browser (i.e. Waterfox) if Safari has nothing available for it. I refuse to use Chrome because I do not like Google.

Any add-ons, scripts, etc to stop these annoying prompts is welcome.

A good content blocker (I like 1Blocker, but there are others too) that uses Safari's content blocking engine will let you hide annoying in-page elements. 1Blocker has a pretty nice "visual chooser" to let you identify the thing you want to block - in the screenshot I just clicked on the left sidebar with user details, and it highlights the page element to be blocked with a red dashed line around it.

Edge is now my default. Turn off site preference for notifications, allow for some. And AdGuard Pro for filtering ads and nuisances.
