When I finish browsing a page I'll go to click on the house icon next to the web address bar "Go to the homepage" and every time I'm prompted with "Do you want to allow downloads on “www.saidwebsite.com”?"

It's been really annoying and it happens to every webpage I visit, so much so that I've been forced to use other browsers when I want to use the convenience of the home icon.

It doesn't occur on private windows, however.

Try changing the download settings.
I tried changing the settings to no prevail. After changing to ask/allow to deny, there's now a rapid split second webpage reload and the downloads icon will briefly show a download before reverting back to the non-download state.

I looked at those settings and there's nothing to change. No weird web addresses or anything unusual. Everything is typed correctly.

I fixed the problem.

As it turns out, I removed Adblock Plus from my Mac, which didn't work and was basically useless, and cleared the cache and cookies and now the home icon works as intended.

I'm not sure how an ad blocking extension would effect such a simple browser function, but it did and was driving me nuts trying to figure it out.
