Safari keeps using DuckDuckGo even though it is set to use Google

If I type a search into the address / search bar on Safari it takes me to DuckDuckGo. I have checked the settings / preferences and Google is set as my chosen search engine. I have tried selecting Yahoo, Bing etc but all have the same outcome.

I don’t suppose anyone has any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

Try this:-

1. Disconnect from the internet.
2. Quit Safari completely.
3. Restart Safari, clear your history completely and ensure that preferences are set to Google for searching.
4. Quit Safari and reconnect to the internet.
5. Start Safari again.
