Safari locking up

Ever since 10.4.7 I've been unable to use Safari on several sites. I've done two reinstalls with the same results. Here is what is going on:

I am using a 20" iMac Core Duo 2.0, 2GB RAM, 256 MB VRam. As a secondary monitor I am using a Dell 2005FPW rotated 90 degrees. I have a few "known bad" URLs although there are more I'm sure. One is http://www.sony.com and the other is http://www.xboxaddict.com. Also most of the Quicktime trailers on Apple's web site follow this behavior too. If I load any of these sites in Safari on my iMac screen they work fine. However, if I either load them on my secondary screen or drag the window from my primary to secondary screen while the page is loaded, Safari locks up. After about 30 seconds I get the spinning beachball. I am able to move my mouse around but otherwise I am unable to interact with the system.

When Safari is in this state I can SSH to it from another Mac I have and do normal SSH stuff... I have tried to "kill" Safari and while it no longer shows on "top" it still shows up on the screen. I am able to 'sudo reboot' though.

Sites such as google work fine. I believe the issue is something to do with some plugin maybe and deals with the screen being rotated 90 degrees. When the screen is not rotated it doesn't have this problem... Any ideas?

My current install is a fresh install with all updates as of today and absolutely nothing else installed.

Can anybody else duplicate this behavior? I'm sure somebody else has a similar set up.

Now why on earth didn't I think of that????

I'd rather figure out why Safari isn't working instead of shelving it. I've been using Firefox but that doesn't mean I shouldn't attempt to figure out the issue.

Quicktime apparently does the same thing... oddly enough I never have issued playing iTunes Videos in the secondary screen, just Quicktime videos in Quicktime.

Any ideas?

When you mention the reinstall, are you referring to the entire system or just Safari? Do you have add ons for Safari? What sort of third party apps and processes are running at the same time?

I mean a complete reinstall.

After I did the reinstall I ran Software Update until it don't update no more.

Then I ran the apps.

It's as fresh as fresh can get... no addons, no third party apps... only thing I have running is whatever OS X runs by default and Safari.

Like I say... it's only when the monitor is rotated 90 degrees...
