Just lately Safari has been taking a very long time to load (10 bounces instead of usual 3) along with a beachball near the end. During that time I've noticed my CPU has been spiking quite significantly. I have no idea what is causing this. I've already restarted my Mac a few times so far. I'm on a 2019 iMac with an 512GB SSD.

Any ideas?

Run your activity monitor in your utilities folder that should list everything that is using memory -cpu-etc you can run system diagnostics from the drop down from the clog wheel at the top sometimes that smooths things out

It seems like something going on with either the extensions or iCloud bookmarks/keychains tonight which is causing the slowdown. I've always had a couple extensions like Bitwarden, Rakuten and disabling them seems to make Safari run instantly now... I'm not sure what's going on..

I wasn’t able to fix it. I did a full reinstall of Catalina and now it’s fine. It’s possible there was some corruption in the OS data. ??‍♂️
