I was having the same issue on my iPad initially. I found the problem was an option that was on in Safari under the Settings App.

The option was something about loading new tabs in the background. It was on, and I turned it off. I closed and exited out Safari from the App Tray and then re-launched it and now links open in new tabs just fine.

Okay, I just messed with it again and now it's not working again. Whenever I tap on a link on a page it just sits there in a tab and is all greyed out. If I flip back to another tab and then go back to it, it will load. Maybe that option in the settings has nothing to do with it.

I also noticed when it's doing this that if you tap on a youtube link, it won't even load up the Youtube app. It just sits there. Perhaps it's some glitch? I have no clue why closing out the app and exiting from the App Tray seems to make it work some times and others not.

Very frustrating. :(

Same damned thing here. Tabs that open from clicking a link won't load until you go back to the old tab and let it load in the background. The problem is that the option for "load all tabs in background" does absolutely nothing. I feel like we maybe getting back to the old apple ways were nobody should ever upgrade to new software until it has had a few revisions.

Now I'm having another major issue. I help moderate a forum and in the evenings I log into the forum from my iPad. Previously, I was having no issues with Safari at all doing this. Now, when I edit or merge etc. and then go back to the main list of topics, only the top half of the page loads. I cannot even scroll down to see the rest of the posts.

Some times if I refresh the first page of the topics the rest of the them will load, but if I tap on the next page only the top half of the second page loads at all and nothing will make it fully appear.

I am extremely upset with this. Other than the Safari issues, iOS 5 has been a wonderful experience. :(
