Hi - I have a bit of a weird problem I can't get my head around. An update came through the other day which didn't seem to have much info around it (I was just asked to enter my laptop password). I think since that update, I've had this problem where Safari will work for a short time then it will suddenly stop loading a page and just sit there but with no errors. Likewise, at the same time I will get a problem with mail where it will accept emails coming in but won't send - this shows an error "connections to the server on the default ports timed out". I am also at this point unable to access the App Store.
When I reboot it restores functionality to all apps for a short period of time.
I have no issue with Firefox and Spotify works as well...seems to be Apple apps only...any explanations please?

I suggest you enter Mail and then from 'Window' in the menu bar at the top go to 'Connection doctor'.
Run that and it may give you a clue as to what is happening.

OK figured it out - looked at DNS and was configured to SOCKS proxy - dunno what or how (suspect malware). Fine now
