Safari Not Loading

I have had the 27 inch iMac for almost a year now and I've always had a problem with Safari. It would work for about a minute then when I wanna go to a different page it takes forever to load or it won't load at all. I would have to quit Safari and start it again but it continues to do it. I would check my internet connection and it says I'm connected. I don't know if it has something to do with the browser or the computer itself, but I need this problem to go away. Any help?
