Since installing Sonoma on my Macs, I've noticed that Safari is really, really keen on caching web pages. A good example is my FlightAware personal stats page which is still showing me my stats from October 4th, no matter how many times I refresh.

If I clear the cache and log back in, it'll show me the current day but then always stays the same until I do it again. I can empty the cache from the develop menu and that also helps.

Online forums (including this one) will often take multiple cmd-Rs to show me the latest version. I can have read all the threads in a sub but Safari still shows some threads unread.

Has anyone noticed this? Apart from manually clearing the cache, is there anything I can tweak in Safari to make it less fond of its cache?

⌥⌘R should refresh from origin without the need to empty the cache.
Apple’s documentation suggests it only works for Web Inspector.
Reload inspected page from origin ⌥ ⌘ R

Command-R: In some apps, such as Calendar or Safari, refresh or reload the page.

Obviously I've no idea what Apple are doing inside Safari, but holding ⌥ while opening Safari's View menu does show Reload Page From Origin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
