I updated to macOS 11.3 a couple of days ago.

Today, in Safari, I tried File | New Private Window. Nothing happened. Closed Safari. It won't open when its icon on the dock is clicked. Not until I quit Safari and start again. Machine reboot doesn't fix this.

Anybody else have this issue?

what version of safari?
14.1

I notice that the settings were as below. I don't recall what those settings were previously, but I enabled the checkbox "When a new tab or window opens, make it active".

Regardless of that checkbox setting, when I use File | New Private Window, it will actually create such a window, but it will not be the active one. I have to use the Window menu to bring it to the fore. The behaviour of Safari windows appears to have changed.
