Safari problems

As much as I like a lot of features connected with Safari, a couple of issues are really starting to bother me.

A lot of web pages just don't look good in Safari. Some appear just way too big for the screen. Almost as though they were designed for people with incredibly bad eyesight, whereas others are all scrunched up in the middle of the screen.

I know that I can change the size of the letters, but when I do that, generally the site becomes even more of a mess.

I'm a recent switcher and don't want to go back to IE, but so many sites are more pleasing to look at using IE.

Am I doing something wrong here, or are there some settings I can alter in Safari to sort these issues out?

I use Camino from www.mozilla.org on pages that don't display properly in Safari.

I do prefer Safari's look and feel for most pages, but because of some propriatary Microsoft code, some pages won't display properly in Safari. Also, I think Safari is standards compliant, meaning that if the code is written properly, the page will display properly. Most websites seem to be written not to the HTML standards, but to IE standards...that is, whatever it takes to make it work on IE for Windows, and to heck with the standards. This makes it difficult for anyone not using IE for Windows. Some sites won't work on IE for Mac, either.

bubbamac: you are correct that pages get written for IE and IE only... if another browser displays it correctly, you are lucky. when i write web pages i make sure it displays in safari first, then mozilla, camino, opera, and then the dreaded IE windows.

usually for IE windows sites that use standards correctly need little css and javascript hacks to make it work correctly.

Try going to the "View" menu and selecting "Make Text Smaller". That might help.
