I need to update 200(!)+ bookmark entries - but for someone else. They usually only use a phone or iPad but there is no freakin way I am prodding all 200+ entries into their iPad.

My plan is to log in as them in the most expedient way possible (they have 2FA but I can get the codes easily enough) on the Mac and update it there. But am I right in saying I'll have to create their account on my Mac to do this? Is there a simpler way through iCloud that I missed?

Thx

Just curious --- Does "update bookmarks" mean removing dead bookmarks, and you are just needing to verify that old bookmarks actually are connected to active sites?

I mean enter a bunch of new ones. Possibly prune or move some others which might be dupes, but mostly mass entry.

Yes, you’ll want to create an account on your Mac so you don’t mess up your own with the other icloud account.

I don’t see a way to import/export bookmarks under iOS. Perhaps that’s something you can do with Safari on the Mac.

Well, the Tony Montana route is to create a new user and populate the desired final set of bookmarks via iCloud login to the iCloud account that already has those bookmarks, then log out, then log in to their account in iCloud (with sync Data later), turn on Bookmark sync, and Merge Data while screaming deliriously. The less Tony route is to just export your bookmarks in Safari with File > Export Bookmarks and have the other party "archive" all their current bookmarks into an "old" folder and then File >Import yours.

That's definitely an alternative... the problem is, the user doesn't actually use Safari on anything other than the iPad and iPhone, and they are almost deliberately clueless. I guess I'll see if I can riff on that approach - thanks for the pointer.
