is there a way to stop it from automatically completing the web address I type in?

not that i know of. why would you want that?

because when i goto apple.com it always takes me to the downloads section instead of the homepage because when i type in apple it automatically completes my typing but furthers it by typing to the downloads section.

type in apple.com then hit the backspace key, then enter

its one more key stroke, but much of the time it guesses right, it may be annoying at first but trust me you will get used to it

i find a big thing about macs is there is normally only one way of doing things, but it tends to be the best way. eg iphoto and a digital camera for importing.
