OK, I am feeling dumber than usual today. Am on Safari 8 on the latest Yosemite release. I could have sworn there used to be a 'fit to page' option for web page images, where you could 'fit the width', but can no longer find it. Am I going crazy?

I don't believe I've seen that as an option anywhere. Don't exactly understand what those options would do though.

So, when I am looking at travel websites, or others, and a picture is displayed, I have a choice of 'full' resolution (often much larger than my screen) or a very small version of the picture in the middle of my browser window. the 'fit width' used to fill my browser from side to side. I still might have to scroll up and down (depending on the picture, of course).

Maybe that's a chrome thing? Perhaps you have an extension that no longer works?

Are you talking about "Reader mode"? (shift-command-r)

That strips out formatting etc and fits everything on a page width.
