I have been messing with the settings for a long time, and I can’t quite figure this out.

Say I search for ‘embarrassing porn’ on Safari on my iPhone. The next day, someone asks to use my phone to look up the number for Ed’s Steakhouse... They type ‘e’ and then see a list of stuff I’ve searched for beginning with that letter.

Obviously this is a Very Bad Thing, and I can’t imagine why there isn’t a simple way to toggle that off. It’s frustrating. If I want to let someone search for something, I must first delete my history.

This is the exact use case for Private Browsing mode.

That doesn’t happen to me. Whatever I search or look at using Private mode does not cross over into the non Private Safari. Nothing is saved using Private mode.
