Safari showing "Bookmarks" rather than "Favourites" on the start page

As per the title.

On my MacBook (Big Sur) the start page shows what is under "favourites", the same (iCloud synched) start page on my iPhone shows "Bookmarks Menu" on its start page, so both are showing two different things?

Any ideas on how to align?

To be honest I am not sure what the difference is between a favourite and a bookmark.

I tried moving the links from "bookmarks" to "favourites" this then shows up on the Mac fine but gets missed on the iPhone start page...

easy to change

Settings > Safari > Favourites

then select the folder you want to show

Perfect! Thanks, I missed that setting.

Is there any difference between a favourite and a bookmark? Just wondering if there is any advantage to either?

I have absolutely no idea why Apple make the distinction. It’s one of my pet peeves.
