I have BT Infinity as my internet connection. When using Safari on my iMac the opening page takes up to 15 seconds to load. I have tried various solution , i.e. resetting Safari, clearing the cache, running disk utility. I have changed my DNS to Open DNS, disabled the DNS perfetching. I have removed all the extension i use, the problem still persists.
When using another browser, such as Chrome, no problem at all. My connection on my iMac is via ethernet so is rock solid as my email arrives instantly.
I spoken to Apple about this, they seem uncertain why this is happening, so any thoughts from any one?

Thank you for your reply. Just to confirm this only happens when opening the homepage. After that the pages load instantly. I have changed the homepage several times to different webpages, however the issue still persist. I have never really had a problem with Safari before, it is just frustrating.
Interestingly when i set up a new user it works fine on the first time of launching Safari. Once close and relaunched the issue comes back.

Do you have a home hub 5? I have one and I occasionally have issues with using the home hub 5 on the 802.11ac/5GHz band. using the 2.4 GHZ band removes all delays and everything is instant (but at the expense of reduced bandwidth).

I have separated my 5GHz and 2.4GHz SSIDs which appears to be recommended but it does have this small issue of sometimes taking forever to perform the initial link-up on the 5GHz band.

I think there are just issues with using the 5GHz band on the Home Hub 5 which have yet to be fully ironed out. Just a thought.

This is one of the reasons I'm glad I've gone back to Mavericks. Safari performance, specially on launch, in Yosemite is a complete joke. So far.

Just take a look on this video comparing Safari and Firefox on my Mac yesterday. But I warn you, it will make you cry!!

I have Yosemite 10.10.2 installed on my 2011 27" iMac and it launches fast. As was suggested in the other thread you posted that in, what you are experiencing is not normal. Maybe that it is time for you to do a clean install.
