Safari slow on a mid2010 MBP

Any tips to speed up a slow Safari on a stock mid2010 MBP?

Quite a bit slower for me than on El Cap. Get a few beachballs from time to time and just in general not as quick and light as it has been in the past for me. Chrome just doesn't get along with my system, so that's not an option. Likely need to upgrade to a SSD at some stage. In the mean time, trying to get Safari back to it's normal self.

That's pretty much it. There are no wonders to expect from a 6 yo MacBook.

Put an SSD into it.
Doing this is remarkably easy.

Also pick up a USB3 enclosure (it will be backward-compatible with USB2).
Use it to "prep and test" the new SSD before you install it.
Then use it to house the old HDD after you swap drives around.

I'd recommend using CarbonCopyCloner to clone the contents of the HDD to the new SSD (unless you want to do a fresh install).
CCC is FREE to download and it's FREE to use for the first 30 days.

There are instructions on ifixit.com on how to do the swap.
Be sure to use THE RIGHT TOOLS (#00 Phillips driver and TORX T-6).

Any SSD will do.
I'd recommend either a Crucial or a Sandisk Plus.

I prefer El Capitan to Sierra.

I believe I have the same model as you. I put a Solid State Hybrid Drive in it and performance improvements were very noticeable. I imagine a full blown SSD will do wonders for your older machine.

Cheers. Yeah as I said, I know a SSD will make a big difference. Just been trying to do something in the mean time. As in changing some settings in Safari and whatnot.

Changed my battery through iFixit so I imagine I could do a SSD.
