Well, it's still a beta, so there are minor bugs that need to be worked out, and it does have a tendancy to crash sometimes, but other than that I've found it to be pretty good. I use it as my main browser, and love its implementation of tabs (can't get that off Apple.com, though ;)).

Ok...so what if i connect to AOL, which is really slow, will it be faster than the AOL browser?

If you use the AOL browser it slows AOL down drastically. You're better off using any other browser but it.

Safari's pretty stable. Camino is probably better but I like the brushed metal.

I've not had any stability issues with Safari, but I did notice a strange effect on my DP 1.42. When I installed safari, a strange motorized chunking sound emitted from my box (not loud, but different and odd). I rebooted several times. For the heck of it, I uninstalled Safari and the sound was gone. It therefore seems to cause some mechanical component to behave differently in the 1.42. I could not pin-point what the noise was (sounded different that a HD seeking all the time, more like a small fan reving up and the down, but that's not the best description either.

Safari issues...

In the initial beta released I found I couldn't use Safari for commercial transactions, such as online banking.

Subsequent releases seem to have fixed that (pretty big) problem, so I can't have been the only user to have reported it!

It still definitely doesn't display alot of web pages correctly. Not sure why. All the page features seem to be there, but not always the way the designer intended.

Still I like it, and it's my default browser.

Safari is my default browser, but it is far from perfect and that is ok because it is beta. It does not work right for my on-line banking, a webmail account that I have at the school, and the most important thing for a teacher, my on-line class and grade management. Will it ever work for these things? I don't know... but I still use Internet Explorer quite a bit, because even though it might be a little slower, there is no fighting it and it works. Safari is good for general browsing, but never forget this IS a MICROSOFT world so sometimes you just have to use IE for a few sites.

the AOL browser uses IE i think so of course safari's gonna be faster.
your internet speed isn't going to change though it's just the way that the page loads that is going to be different.
Ever since Apple pulled the plug on their Safari seeding program, new versions haven't been leaked so to get one of the more recent ones with Auto-Fill and tabs you'll have to look using carracho or something...the latest version is i think v67.

yeah v67 is the newest release... but unless you *really* need autofill and tabs, i'd stick with v62. much more stable...

pnw

Safari has become my default broswer as well, was using Mozilla before. Its impressive, has worked with my webmail and online banking. Its fast, quick and I like the look. I have had a few issues with hotmail. But oh well.

MacsRgr8 - yeah, me too. I can't think of why there would be any connection - and such a strange result, but Safari installed = strange noise, uninstalled and the noise stops.

Safari seemed fine, but with Explorer and Netscape in the dock already, I'm not really feeling any sort of loss.
