Mine is fine in those two aspects so it isn't Safari, must be something on your local installation or internet connection (for the forum/pics issue). Text input is immediate.

I have not experienced the issue you described. If you have not tried this, create a new user account, reboot, login to the new user account and see if you issues still happen.

A couple of things to try beyond the new user account:
  • Repair Permissions, reboot.
  • Drag your user account Library/Caches folder to the trash and reboot.

Not even a load of animated gifs? Lots of animated emoticon gifs chokes up Safari more so in a text box.

Just went to a webpage that had animated gifs, no issue what so ever. What is an example website that chokes Safari?

This issue seems GPU driver related. Quite a few Mac Pro owners suffer from the same problem.

Which Mac you are using now?

Chrome is trash. Enjoy having a few hours less battery life if you're on mobile.

Safari is great.

I have had far less issues with Safari than any other browser on OS X. To each their own, I suppose. ;)

in safari i keep getting a colorful spinning wheel even if sites are already loaded, i also get to many times a message "This site and Another Page NOT responding. Select to go to the page, you must force the reload of the page. "I would go to the Select page?" something like that, chrome seems faster but also seems to just wastes the battery life, like that i prefer safari! How about opera or firefox, do this browsers perform more like safari or more like chrome?

on a side note which is the faster way to close tabs with safari? im using mouse gestures v1.11 extension to gesture right click , this disable right click menu .. annoying!

it is indeed but also makes my back hurts :)! (by the way buying a middle click mouse would fix this for me or using chrome with its gestures extensions, just seeing if theres other way)

The OP hasn't checked in in a while, but I also have the text input lag, so he's not alone there. I don't however have the other issue that I'm aware of.
