What happens when clearing cookies etc (in settings). Does it remove all of the saved tab groups and or all of the websites contained in each group? Or does it just clear the data and leave the tabs as is? Pre tab groups this setting just nuked everything back to a blank start page. I have set up some tab groups that I want to keep permanent (I have assumed that that is the point of the feature) - but I didnt test this out first and now I dont want to!

Anyone know?

I can confirm to add a data point. At least in iOS 15.3.1, the Tab Group tabs remain preserved after clearing history and web data. You do lose cookies so you have to login to sites again.

It seems the Tab Group tabs are synced to iCloud while the Start Page tabs remain on device and are only referenced to other devices. (So clearing Safari only clears on-device data.)

I wish the Start Page tabs would sync to iCloud as well as it'd be nice to have a streamlined workflow across devices.
