On macOS or iOS 15, how do you use this new way to organise tabs? Do this new arrangement help you on your productivity?

I've recently installed Safari 15, which includes the new Safari Tab Groups, as well as iOS 15. I have a Tab Group for all tech related websites, and another one just for YouTube. Do this group tabs sync across all the devices? Or each device has its own groups?

I want to know how are you all taking advantage of this Tab Groups, because I feel tempted to just not use them. Thank you.

I haven't really gotten into the habit of using it much, but I find it handy for having tons of tabs around without necessarily cluttering up my main safari home page.

For example, the other day, I was shopping for some stuff for my mom. Normally, if I leave the pages open, it means having them open in the background when I browse other pages, and sometimes, it's just extra clutter in the background (I am not really a fan of the new compact safari address bar either).

But if I close them, then I need to reload them subsequently. Instead, I create a new tab group named shopping, move the page there, and I can then open as many tabs there as I want without it filling up my primary safari page.

I also created another tab called reading which I have filled with some comic websites I frequent.

In a way, it's like having folders for your webpages. The next best thing to having lots of pages open, without the visual clutter of having lots of pages open. You can then switch between the various tab groups as and when your activity dictates.

Good examples! I think I’ll do the same whenever I need to open several tabs for a single task, be it research, shopping or just reading the news from my favorite sites (which includes MacRumors of course).

I haven’t tried it on several devices signed under my Apple ID, only my Mac has Safari 15.1 on Big Sur, that’s why I don’t know if the groups are in sync, but if they sync across all my devices, that’s another point to use them.

Thanks for the reply!

I found the tab grouping pane cluttered at first & switching between tabs when using Safari on iPad & iPhone weren’t visually matched so I found myself searching for the group. I‘ve just realised I can use emojis as tab group names, so I’ve done that & found locating tab groups easier…

iPhone (faster access to Tab Groups. Wish this tab order matched that of the iPad)…

iPhone (slower access to tabs, via multi tab menu…this is where the order of the list differs, annoyingly)…
