After the upgrade to Yosemite, Safari takes a very long time to start (20+ seconds of a bouncing icon) on my iMac. Once loaded it is very fast. On my MBP it starts instantaneously. Has anyone else seen this?

Is it just Safari that launches slow, or do other apps do it also?
You might try looking in Safari prefs at your extensions and start removing some of them one by one. I may be that you have an extension conflicting with the new Safari version.
I don't have any extensions. Thanks for the suggestion though. I would have thought others would have seen this but I guess not. To answer your question - safari is the only 'slow starting' program I have. Everything else is lightning quick on startup.
Very often Safari just won't open links/websites (I regularly use) no matter the wait. I earlier today had to force quit Safari like 4x then had to just restart because still it wasn't cooperating. It was so dumb. I have probably sent 100+ Safari error reports to Apple since installing Yosemite. I have no idea what is happening, it just seems that Safari forgets it's an app to be used and doesn't want to open anything because it doesn't remember how to. If I just used it before using another app such as preview, quicktime, pixelmator, itunes, etc, then try to use Safari again after it's been quit it just usually won't open any links / websites without force quit the app, then force quit finder. I have no plug-ins or extentions installed for Safari. It is honestly infuriating. Also often if I use an app then try to use Safari, the favorites page is open but any favorite and/or type anything in the location bar: beach ball. 8 gb ram, 100+ gb space in my hdd, mid-2012 cMBP. Safari constantly being beyond stupid.

Try resetting Safari. Try booting in Safe Mode and see if it is the same (if it isn't look to your login apps). Try creating and logging in as another user and see if it is still the same.
Do you have another Mac that you connect to for file sharing? or another computer that sleeps when you have slow-downs?
I fixed it by deleting browser history and clear cache. Quite dumb that the history messed [it] up.
Nope, it wasn't iCloud related. I had ~1 year worth of browsing history. I think that Safari was - nearly each time it was opened - trying to make all history instantly accessible [for auto-complete in the location bar] by loading it before letting Safari be usable. Location bar auto-complete from history is why I hadn't deleted browsing history.
