How unbelievably annoying. Safari unpacked the 1.1.1 firmware, so now it's just a folder!! iTunes won't recognize it to restore it. What can I do? Downloading it again isn't an option!

tell safari not to unpack stuff.

Rename the .ipsw as .zip and unzip...or just download with another browser...

The acutal zip file is probably in your trash. That's where it's usually put after safari automatically extracts something.

Best advice ever.

I don't have a .ipsw. It's a folder. I'm not downloading it again, it seems ridiculous to do so - I have the contents, and BT Broadband is capping my internet speed.

How big is the firmware for an iPhone?? seems kinda odd that you are flatly refusing to download it again?

Even with BT's Fair Usage Policy, you could download at 30-150k/sec which would download most things fairly quickly (well within a few hours)...

And if s/he bothered to look at my post, s/he would have found that you can just compress to zip then rename to .ipsw :)
