They scrapped the ENTIRE design, even took away the tab coloring, but for some weird reason, they kept the outlined address bar. Why? It was only added to distinguish between the address bar and the tabs, as they took on the same shape for a hot minute. But it's gone now, we have the old boring square tabs, so why do we still have the outlined address bar? The colored/tinted tabs were aesthetically pleasing to look at. I know there's an option to use the "new" (now scrapped) design, but that's without the address bar. I liked more how they look in beta 4. Personally, I believe it's only there so Apple won't feel completely embarrassed about having backed out of the project.

Anyway, just my rant for today...

when did tab coloring take effect?
I'm trying to see if that option is available in Mojave/safari 14

I do agree with the Monterey-safari15 look,
very minimal which needs extra clicks to open a tab or see things

Tab coloring took effect throughout the entire beta process from June to September but was removed at release. It's only available in "compact" mode.
