Just realized that Apple tweaked a feature in Safari 9.0 us software developers need, namely the ability to hide the toolbar and its distracting URL window and toolbar extensions when taking browser screenshots.

The command that replaced it "Always Show Toolbar In Full Screen" only affects full screen use. Unfortunately, if you want to show a simple window with zoom buttons and nothing else, you're SOL. :(

I hope someone addresses this because it's a huge PITA and I'm sure Apple won't do anything about it.

And no, you can't do this in Google Chrome either, I've tried to find solution for Chrome for years...

can't you just use command-shift-4, and drag over just the area you want a screenshot of? not as immediate, but should do the job...

Can’t you just remove all the toolbar icons and address bar temporarily, take your screenshot and put them back? The unified toolbars are common in OS X anyway. Alternatively, open the website in a JavaScript popup, take the screenshot and cut out the address bar of the popup window with Preview.

Not if you want to take precise screenshots with exactly the same dimensions. Think about what you propose doing for hundreds of screenshots.
