Safe to enable Trim?

I am using an external SSD as my boot drive. I upgraded to Yosemite and found out Trim Enabler no longer worked. It looks like they have an update now but it seems it may cause complications? Now I'm concerned as to whether it's safe to enable Trim???

Hi i have using an external boot drive ie-my book studio" and have trim enabled on my imac i7 mid 2010 having using the latest update and haven't come across any issues regarding this update plus i am using yosemite and pretty impressed so far,

I have the same query. AFAIK, the new 3.3 Trim Enabler switches of OSX's kext signing, which is some sort of security feature - and it's system wide...

I was wondering what others are doing? TRIM is obviously(?) important - but how comfortable is everyone having this feature disabled?

Personally, I have decided not to use Trim Enabler anymore. It’s really a shame to lose trim support, but it’s not worth risking booting issues (which can happen if you or your system resets PRAM) or compromising my security by disabling a security feature.

As long as you know the risk, IMO it's safe to use Trim Enabler.

I enabled TRIM by it without any issue. Of course, I know that I shouldn't reset PRAM without disable it. And I can simply reinstall the OS X to fix it if I made a mistake (or use terminal command in recovery mode).

I've been using OS X for almost 10 years without kext signing, I'm not going to start worrying about it now. If you're the type of user to install a SSD on an older Mac and know what TRIM is, one would assume you are knowledgeable enough to not install sketchy drivers.
