Did Apple fix the problem with installing on older MBP's late 2013 Macs?

Or, should I be worried that my machine could be whatever bricked...???

Thanks

I installed 11.1 on a late 2013 15” MacBook Pro a couple weeks ago with no issues. BTW, i did a clean install.

I have never done a clean install - been using Mac's since the late 90's...

Do I have to wipe the drive completely? Or, can I create a new partition for Big Sur (and have the same affect)?

I wiped the drive completely. I do a clean install every few releases.

Installed MacOS 11.1 on my late 2013 15" MBP with no problems. Did not clean install (did a backup, of course). Hopefully with 11.1 they eradicated the brick issue.

Recently updated (not clean install) to 11.1 on my late 2013 13" retina Macbook Pro. I had a few false starts - the update aborting with errors. It eventually finished OK and I'm now running it without apparent issues.
