I've got a large library of movies which are all encoded in variety of containers (mp4, m4v, avi, mkv) and codecs (ac3, aac, mp3, dts, etc).
What I'm trying to do is convert EVERYTHING into MP4s and retain multi channel audio while being able to add movie cover art to every file. I'm using Subler to mux everything from one container to mp4. conveniently, it also applies the cover art at the same time along with ID tags. I'm using the following settings;
Is the 'generic' multi channel selection safe and true 5.1 audio? It seems to play just fine in Quicktime, iTunes, VLC and on my Boxee Box. But what I want to make sure is that it's 'future proof' in case I switch to a Roku device or something else. I don't want to pigeon hole myself.
Thanks!
