Saisuke: Finally a Calendar App!

This morning I finally discovered what I have been waiting for: a REAL calendar Application, Saisuke.

It seems to be written by a Japanese (available in English and Japanese), who has a lot of experience in building "PIMs" for other portable devices. The very feature-rich interface is based on the Casio PIM.

I bought and installed it, and so far, it looks extremely good! It syncs with Google Calendar. Previously I have synced the vanilla iPhone calendar with Outlook (dont want to loose anything in the volatile iPhone). So now I just exported my Outlook appointments to Google Calender, and then synced Saisuke with it. A note: One needs to specify 2-way sync, otherwise it just syncs from GC to SS.

I will use Saisuke now, and will get back if I find anything more to report.

I intend to write a review, but the review will only be seen in the Swedish AppStore (stupid, isn't it?), so I hope someone writes a positive review also in the US store.

I have excersized it heavily today and I am still very happy. It even handles the multiple calendars of Google Calendar nicely, with different colours and everything. I have additional calendars for Birthdays and Holidays, but more can be added.

The only drawback I have found is that it seems to be connecting to GC every time it is started (which might mean paid data traffic if you are abroad). But there is a setting to turn off all syncing if one is disturbed by this.

And I am not disturbed by the pricing. $9.99 is reasonable for a REALLY USEFUL application, compared to the many toy apps available cheaply. This is a real PIM application, just what I have been using earlier on Palm Pilot and other organizers, which I will use many times every day.

It looks nice. I really like the week view, and would love to have that on iCal and my iPhone. But other than that, I'm very happy with the calendar on the iPhone and can't justify the $10.

$10 is a reasonable price for any good PIM application, however with Pocket Informant for the iphone due to be released sometime soon, i'm going to wait. Hopefully PI will be as good on the iphone as it was on a windows mobile device.

Cant get it to sync...

For some reason it doesnt want to sync with my google calendar.

Other than turning it on in the main iphone settings, is there something I have to do in Google Calendar to turn on its ability to interact with outside programs?

$10 for a Calendar App? We already have a calendar app in the iPhone and iCal on the Mac. Who knows, SJ might just announce that the calendar app in the iPhone will now work with Google Calendar tomorrow!!

Did you configure BOTH set of settings? In addition to the internal settings of this app, there's also another group within the global built-in SETTINGS -- includes your Google Calendar user ID + password and assorted other sync-specific options.

Once you get into that built-in Settings screen, scroll down for the Apps section where you'll see SaiSuke.

I have to say i'm loving this app. For me it was worth every penny.

First, I use Exchange for work but I refuse to put my personal calendars on the work server. So I keep my GCal... BIG problem since without some "hacks" its difficult to see both Exchange and GCal on the iPhone.

Second, I'm no longer tied to my computer for updates because Saisuke syncs 2-way over the air, just like Exchange

Bought this for $10 - got it to sync up and add appointment. Then as I went in to make changes the app seems to have broken itself. It crashes each and every time I go in.

Deleted and downloaded again.

Same results - perpetual crashing.

Nice interface and I love the weekly calendar. Seems like an alpha version to me.

Proceed with caution.

Odd. I've been using it daily, multiple per day, sometimes with edits, and it's smooth sailing all the way. Curiosity Q: which iPhone do you have? I'm on an original iPhone with 16g.

Entered my google username and password, and turned on sync at start-up. Google can update Saisuke, but Saiduke can't update Google.

Memory: I believe you have to tap the backup button within the app to push its calendar to Google. It will then appear with your other gCals.

Back up always gets me an error message. If I enter an appointment into Google Calenders, then sync, copy that appointment to other days in Saisuke, then sync again, the appointment shows up in Google calenders. Wish it just synced appointments created in Saisuke, but this works.

I just need a back-up on Google, since sync on my computer isn't syncing contacts or calendar anymore (old Windows computer), and my iPhone still crashes often (figured out how to avoid some now).

Hello there

I was also having trouble getting the application to sync with GC (from the iphone to GC). I finally got it to work this morning and thought I would post what I did.

Try adding a new appt. on the iphone within the application. Under the details, where it says calendar, change it to be the gmail account.

Now you should have a new appt. on the iphone.

In the application, make a backup of the calendar. That is done by hitting the icon that looks like the world.

After I did that the application calendar showed up on GC and I was able to sync between the two.

So far, so good.
